The Kansas Association of Community College Trustees operates the Kansas Community College Leadership Initiative (KCCLI).  KCCLI is a ten month leadership development program for individuals in the Kansas Community College system that aspire to hone their leadership skills and prepare to exercise leadership on their campuses.

 

Participants meet for nine monthly sessions on different community college campuses across the state to be able to appreciate the similarities and differences in the Kansas Community College system.

 

KCCLI incorporates featured speakers on a broad array of topics including the Higher Education and the Kansas System, Key Characteristics of Effective Leaders, Assessing Personal Strengths and Personal Leadership Styles, Working Effectively with Internal and External Stakeholders, Managing Change and Conflict, Diversity in the Workplace, Media Relations, Power and Politics, Effective Communication, Strategic Planning,  Collaboration, and Fundraising.

 

KCCLI Outcomes

  1. An understanding of self, personal leadership strengths and effective leadership traits.

  2. An understanding of the key functions of a comprehensive community college.

  3. An understanding of the current structure of higher education and community colleges, inside and outside the state of Kansas, including the legal landscape.

  4. A personal networking system.

  5. Exposure to best practices and     innovative solutions.
